About Us.

Kalianna Enterprise Inc. originated in the mid 1960's when a group of concerned parents of children with a disability formed an association in Albury to build a location that would cater for the specific needs of their children.

In 1966, with the assistance of local service clubs, they built a small workshop on what is now called Kalianna Reserve in Sackville Street, Albury. Under the banner of The Sub Normal Children's Association, development of the facility continued in the 1970's and 1980's into a sheltered workshop. The mid 1980's saw another major milestone being achieved under the name of the Challenge Foundation of NSW Albury and District Branch, when the service opened an accommodation home at Thurgoona and became involved in the employment options for disabled adults.

The organisation as we know it today commenced in 1993, resulting from the restructuring of the Challenge Foundation of NSW and is administered by a locally elected professional Committee of Management.

Our Objectives.

The primary objective of Kalianna Enterprises Inc. is to provide access to a diverse range of support services that provide individual opportunities for persons with disabilities and aged/frail care consumers in our community to both maximise their potential and allow them the opportunities to enjoy the quality of life they wish in our community in the least restrictive way.

These opportunities consist of a diverse range of quality individual services from supported employment and day programs to transport, recreation and holiday provision, general living skills development and community integration.

Funding.

Kalianna is to a high extent self funded, which means through business options, fundraising and services provided, our organisation is able to provide its consumers with a range of service options.

Both State and Commonwealth Government support is provided to assist individuals to achieve their potential in specific programs. Kalianna is committed to provide all the necessary support for our consumers to "Ascend to Greater Heights Together".

Commercial Operations.

The Kalianna organisation has always been a local (Albury-Wodonga) operation that relies heavily on the support it receives from the local community and business houses. It is essential to the continuation of our service that local patronage/usage of our products is maintained and that our networking ties and partnership agreements with local industry form the basis of our intergration into the business community and result in supporting our financial stability.

Commercial and private customers are treated to excellent quality standards at competitive prices with reliability as a primary objective. All manual tasks (e.g packaging, assembling) provide opportunities for our consumer base to increase their skills and are eagerly sought.

Access to the Services.

Formal entry and exit procedures apply for all service locations. Application forms, publications and other materials are available from the Head Office at 749 Sackville street, Albury (and all other locations). Advocacy assistance can be made available on request to assist persons with the completion of the required documents.

Philosophy.

It is Kalianna's belief that people have a right to make choices in their life and have a right to dignity, respect, privacy and confidentiality. They have a right to access services in a non discriminatory way and that the services are provided in a safe and reliable format. Quality service standards are a priority for all of our service locations.

Volunteers.

Kalianna operations are supported by diverse range of volunteers. Volunteering community work is a highly motivating and satisfying endeavour resulting in client outcomes for persons less fortunate. Formal training and accreditation is provided.

Status.

Kalianna Enterprises Inc. is an Incorporated Associaton with a constitution and by laws. We are classed as a "NOT FOR PROFIT" organisation, with a Fundraising Authority CFN 12875 and our ABN No is 15 741 038 604.
